I’ve created this short video that explains what an LLM is, how it is built and how it works. This is a non technical explanation for anyone aged 5 years plus using a talking parrot to describe the key principles. • [00:00:00] Hello, welcome to this simple explanation video of what an LLM is and what it does. This is suitable for
• [00:00:05] anyone aged 5 years old and above. Basically, a Large Language Model or LLM is like a super smart talking
• [00:00:13] parrot. It’s a computer program that is really, really good at talking and writing like a human. People didn’t really
• [00:00:19] build it; they sort of grew it. They gave the computer program every book and every piece of writing ever
• [00:00:24] written to read. Then what the computer does, it starts to try to guess what the next word is. So
• [00:00:29] if you start a sentence like, “I like to eat,” it remembers which words always come next, which could be
• [00:00:34] pizza, and then it says it. It keeps picking the best next word until your whole sentence or story is
• [00:00:41] finished. It’s all about making the best guess for the next word. It can answer your questions super fast and
• [00:00:46] make up stories about dinosaurs and more. But what it does do is sometimes make things up, like saying cows
• [00:00:52] can fly. It doesn’t actually know things; it just knows what words should go next. An LLM can write you
• [00:00:57] a birthday card, tell you a silly joke, or help you with your work. But what it can’t do is
• [00:01:01] go to the park, pet a puppy, or feel sad. It’s just a program, not a person. So if you
