The transcription for the video “ScratchJr Quick tip: How to create & code a basic joypad (up, down, left, right) in under 2 minutes” by Mr Vullo is as follows:
[00:00] hello and welcome everybody to this quick tip video for Scratch Junior I’m going to show you how to make [00:05] a joyad so we’re going to go to our plus character button go to the blank character press the paint [00:10] option select the square select red and I’m going to create a square going to feel that now and press [00:18] the tick button there’s our first button now to save some time I’m going go to plus character again this [00:25] time want to select the character I’ve already made go to the paint option and change that to Green the [00:31] colors are important what we we select so please follow along with this we’re going to do the same again [00:37] this time I’m going to change it to yellow and then one more time going to change that to purple [00:47] okay so now I’m going to code each of these I’m with the purple one initially so go to the [00:53] start on touch button and send message I’m going to change that to purple so it corresponds with the button [00:59] it’s ref ref to I’m going to copy that code across to Yellow change that to yellow copy it across [01:05:00] to the green change to Green Copy it across to the red change to red now all our buttons are [01:13:00] coded going to organize them a little bit better so they look a little bit more in line fantastic now [01:18:00] we’re going to go to our cat because we want the cat to move when the buttons are pressed so [01:23:00] I use my received message blocks I like to set them out like they look like in the joyad and [01:29:00] I change them to the colors to represent the joyad this is important for me just to organize my thoughts [01:36:00] and organize my code so when the yellow button is pressed what I want to happen is that the cat [01:43:00] moves left once when the purple button is pressed I want the cat to move right when the red button [01:52:00] is pressed I want the cat to move up and when the green button is pressed I want the cap [01:59:00] to move down so let’s see if that works press the red one up they go green down yellow left [02:06:00] purple right and we are done
