Website update for September 2020

Hello, I hope you and your families have all had a healthy and happy time over the summer holidays.

The Roydon Reception Class teaching team have been busy over the summer preparing for the start of the new academic year.

Unfortunately COVID-19 is still with us, and although schools will be fully open in September, the threat of local lockdown still casts a shadow over us. For this reason I have decided to update the website. Many lessons were learned from school closures, and our video creation and digital teaching skills significantly increased, so we would like to use this to support children in our class.

As we are currently not in lockdown, daily home learning support will not be posted daily on this blog, instead we have created collections of videos for each of our phonics, maths and literacy curriculum that will be posted in a ‘gallery’ type view on a page allowing us to refer to them as needed. These pages will essentially be a ‘one stop shop’ for all things phonics/maths/literacy.

This will also allow parents to easily find videos of content that their child make need to revisit.

The look of this website will also change, and as previously, will evolve through need and feedback to make sure that we are delivering the best possible user experience for the parents and children in our class.

The priority of this website is to support the children and parents in my class, however, please feel free to share this with anyone else you think may benefit from it.

Thank you again for all your efforts, support and feedback. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or comments via email => receptionroy AT burntmill.essex.sch.uk

Hello,

If you are a parent from Rabbit Class and this is not your first visit to this website, please click here to jump to today’shome teaching section’.

If this is your first visit to this website site, please read the next few paragraphs to familiarise yourself with the setup and function of this website.

This is a template blog post in which I share the daily adult led input normally delivered to the children in my reception class.

In this blog post there is a phonics input, a sentence writing input and a maths input; please see the relevant section below).

The wording of this blog post will be the same every day, with only the ‘teaching input’ content changing. This will allow me to post quicker, with less typos and allow regular visitors to become familiar with the structure so they can focus on delivering the content to the children in their care.

The goal of this website is to inform, rather than entertain adults, so they can support the progress of the children.

Please note, I have created this website as this information doesn’t easily fit on Class Dojo, the normal platform I use to communicate with the parents of the children in my class. This means that the content posted is based on my class’s needs and current place in our curriculum.

Parents outside of Rabbit Class are more than welcome to use this content to support their children learning at home, however I will not be taking requests to create specific videos. The children of Rabbit class are my priority.

It might be worth reading the pages ‘a guide to using this website’, ‘copyright infringement’ and ‘resources’.

The home teaching section:

As we are now in the last week of term we are continuing to wind down.

We will be continuing with our daily ‘follow along’ phonics video, and also reviewing the number blocks video each day for numbers 10 to 20.

By the end of the year we will get to the end of the phase 3 input.

There will be no more sentence writing input, however please take every opportunity to write in the phonics session.

Phonics

This term we are recapping all of the phase 3 program.

Based on presentation from Twinkl.

If you are interested in finding out more about our phonics teaching strategy, please click here.

Maths

Please watch this number blocks video with your child and discuss what you see.

Today we are thinking about number 19 and 20.

Thank you as always for your support.
