I would just like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents and adults supporting children during home schooling for their tremendous effort in extremely challenging circumstances.
Special mention to all the key worker parents for their efforts keeping the country moving. Thank you!
For now, I will not be posting daily home learning support blog posts, however all resources and videos will stay up and accessible. Please feel free to use them in anyway that is useful.
This term we are introducing the phase 3 phonics program.
We have now introduced all on the sounds we are learning in phase 3, so the rest of the sessions will be recapping groups of sounds. So, instead of a sound video, each day I will be posting the phase 3 tricky words video as a warm up.

There is no sentence writing today as the children (and you) have worked super hard this week.
Maths
This week we are focusing on combining numbers (addition).
For today’s session you will need your 20 pegs (or objects) from Monday plus something to write and on. We are aiming to combine all our skills from this week and introduce the ‘abstract’ (i.e. the numerals) to the process of combining numbers.

Instructions:
Please get your child (helping them where required) to cut out the words on the sentence sheet delivered to you.
Ask your child to write their name on the top of the sheet.
Starting on the red dot, ask your child to practice their letter formation by writing over the yellow letters on the sheet, reminding them about the correct ‘finger and thumb’ pencil grip
Together with your child, arrange the cut out words into the correct sentence, reminding your child about the 3 elements of sentence writing; capital letter at the start, finger spaces and a full stop at the end.
Once the words are arranged in the correct order, ask your child to attempt copy this sentence on to the sheet doing their best to stay on the line. Again please remind the children about the 3 elements of sentence writing.

This week we are focusing on introducing 3D shapes to the children. Each day we will be talking about a different shape. I will be mentioning the number of face, edges and corners – the children do not need to memorise ‘how many’ for each shape, instead they just need an awareness of what they are.
For today’s session you will not need any equipment. We will be talking about spheres. It would be great if you could ‘hunt’ for spheres throughout the day, pointing them out to children around your home and environment as you go about your day.
